Meet your local host

Creator of mindful journeys in Mozambique, based in Maputo

Mozambique touches me with its light, its hospitality and its simplicity. My role is to create journeys that respect this beauty, without turning it into a backdrop.

Clara

Established in southern Africa for over ten years, Clara founded Atiba Voyage in Maputo to showcase Mozambique with sincerity, listening and rigor. Before tourism, she worked in event and wedding organization: a background that is reflected today in the way she designs precise, seamless and detail-oriented trips. For Clara, a beautiful trip begins with understanding: understanding travelers' wishes, but also the realities on the ground, local cultures and the fragile balances of the places visited. She loves showcasing a still little-known Mozambique, between wild beaches, pristine islands, warm encounters, gastronomy, nature and sweetness of life. Her approach is rooted in transparency, respect and genuine emotion.

Everything you need to know about Mozambique

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to Visit Mozambique?

The best time to travel to Mozambique stretches from April to October, during the dry season. Temperatures remain mild, humidity drops, and underwater visibility becomes remarkable, particularly around Bazaruto and the Quirimbas. From June to September, the waters are cool but ideal for observing manta rays and humpback whales off the coast of Tofo. November marks the return of heat, before the rains from December to March that make certain northern trails difficult, notably towards Pemba or Niassa. For a circuit combining safari in Gorongosa and beaches, July to October is often preferred, when wildlife concentrates around water points and the coastline reveals its most beautiful colors.

What budget should I plan for a trip to Mozambique?

Mozambique remains a more exclusive destination than its neighbours, which is reflected in its pricing: lodges on archipelagos like Bazaruto or Quirimbas command premium rates, partly due to air logistics and the pristine nature of the sites. Plan for an average of €250 to €400 per day and per person for a comfortable stay combining coastal and inland experiences, and considerably more for upscale island camps. Domestic flights between Maputo, Vilankulo and Pemba add to the budget, as do boat transfers. Conversely, an itinerary focused on the south — Tofo, Inhambane, Maputo — allows for greater travel flexibility, with a more moderate budget and genuine diversity of experiences.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Mozambique?

Mozambique rewards those who commit to it. Distances are vast, air connections are limited, and some regions are difficult to access without reliable connectivity on the ground. Working with a local travel agency in Mozambique means relying on a team that knows the pilots, guides, and lodge managers, and understands when an itinerary will work — or won't. From Maputo, Clara and her team build each journey in direct contact with their on-the-ground partners, adjust in real time, and anticipate the unexpected. You book from France, in euros, with APST guarantee and French tourism law protection, but you travel with contacts present locally. This dual foundation is what truly transforms the experience.

What to see on a trip to Mozambique?

A Mozambique circuit is rarely built all at once: you choose your fragments. In the south, Maputo and its Portuguese architecture, the dunes of Tofo and Vilankulo Bay, gateway to the Bazaruto archipelago and its pink sandbars. Further centre, Gorongosa National Park tells the story of a rare ecological renaissance in Africa, while Zinave attracts those seeking wildlife in recovery, away from crowds. In the north, Ilha de Moçambique, a Unesco-listed site, preserves the memory of Swahili routes, and the Quirimbas offer one of the continent's last preserved marine spaces. Each region has its own pace, its light, its way of experiencing the country.
